Brian Pugh begins his second season as a head baseball coach with Arcadia University. He most recently served as an assistant coach with baseball program at Wesley College in Dover, Delaware. Pugh, who hails from Middletown, Delaware also serves as the assistant facility and event management coordinator for the University’s athletic department.
During his one year stint as a member of the Wolverine’s coaching personnel, Pugh was responsible for developing both the throwing and conditioning routines of the Wesley pitching staff while assisting in areas of recruiting and scouting. During the 2008 campaign, Pugh guided his top two starters to ERAs under 3.00, and impressive combined win-loss totals of 14-2 and 172 strikeouts, while helping the Wolverines to a 27-15 overall mark and a 10-8 showing in their first year as members of the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC). Just one year removed, both Arcadia and Wesley competed against each other in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC). In 2008 Wesley made appearances in both the CAC and ECAC South Championships.
Pugh also has extensive experience coaching in two of the nations most highly regarded summer collegiate leagues, the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) and the Cape Cod Baseball League. During his tenure, he had instructed over 30 players who have gone on to be drafted or sign free-agent contracts with professional organizations. Most notably, 1st rounders Greg Reynolds (2nd overall pick – Colorado Rockies) and Brad Lincoln (4th overall pick - Pittsburgh Pirates) were selected in 2006 as well as Zach Jackson (supplemental 1st round – Toronto Blue Jays) in 2004. Jackson made his major league debut in 2006 with the Milwaukee Brewers.
